What is the bartender tip for a Sailor's Sunrise?
It's a Tequila Sunrise with spiced rum and a touch of lime: the grenadine stays out of the shaker and goes into the glass after, or you lose the gradient. The 15 ml of lime cuts the juice and the rum's sweetness; if the boxed juice is very sweet, 15 ml is enough. Grenadine here is 15 ml — more than the 10 ml in a Tequila Sunrise, so it really sweetens, not just colors. Captain Morgan, Sailor Jerry, or Shipwreck cover it; gold rum works, but you lose the spice. Don't stir after the grenadine. The Sunset Mule lengthens vodka with ginger beer; the Hakuna Matata puts grenadine at the bottom, with coconut and banana.
