Daiquiri
Daiquiri is a sour, citrus and sweet cocktail made with Rum, with moderate flavor complexity.
Ingredients
- 60 ml white rum (recommended: Bacardi Carta Blanca)
- 25 ml fresh lime juice
- 2 bar spoons white granulated sugar (or 15 ml rich 2:1 simple syrup)
- 5 ml grenadine (for the gradient)
- Ice
- Lime wedge (garnish)
Method
- Chill the coupe well with ice ahead of time — the finished drink is served without ice.
- In a shaker packed with ice, shake the rum, lime juice, and sugar hard so the granulated sugar dissolves.
- Dump the ice from the coupe and double strain.
- Pour the grenadine into the center of the glass to create a red gradient at the bottom.
- Garnish with the lime wedge on the rim.

What is the bartender tip for a Daiquiri?
Created in 1898 by engineer James Cox, inspired by the Canchanchara, when the gin ran out. The original recipe has no grenadine: the 15 ml is Tato's touch for a gradient and a little extra sweetness. If you use 2:1 syrup instead of granulated sugar, you can shake a bit shorter.
